Best Film Opening Sequences
(In response to my previous post ‘A great beginning‘ I’ve collected a couple more examples of great movie introductions)
The opening sequence of a movie definitely has to set the right tone; here are some of the most unforgettable.
Trainspotting
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
Pulp Fiction
Catch me if you can
Fight Club (bad audio - couldn’t find a better version)
Snatch

Any of the old Pink Panther movies, of course. And, for that matter, The Life and Death of Peter Sellers used that style to tremendous effect.
I’d like to mention Robocop as well- it’s been copied so many times that it doesn’t seem like much now, but at the time, just ROBOCOP and straight into the action was pretty innovative. It’s certainly the first time I ever saw that.

Pretty good start! I’d like to see the beginning of Super Troopers on this list too - everyone remembers the first time they saw this movie!

Movies directed by Joe Dante always have cool opening shots.
The ‘burbs, where they zoom down from earth orbit right down to this particular house……of course you see it on TV all the time now, thanks to Google earth, but when i first saw it, it was ultracool.
InnerSpace has a wicked opening shot too.

@Jochem yeah that one is also good =) although I have never heard of the movie.
James Bond movies always do have famous opening scenes, but I was personally never really a fan of them… Probably just because I am not really a Bond fan myself.
